In addition to being the main author of the June Constitution of 1849, Monrad became president of the Royal Council (prime minister) in 1864. Both contemporaries and posterity blamed him for the national disaster of 1864. After which he was more or less forgotten until he came to the forefront with the TV series 1864 - 150 years later.
